3 of my favorite eye-related products
Some of my most common questions from patients are about these 3 things:
Lash Extensions. How do I take care of them so they last?
Red Eyes. Why are my eyes so red and how do I get rid of the redness?
Dry Eyes. How can I find some relief from dry and scratchy eyes?
I could spend quite a bit of time discussing all three above. Dry Eye alone is a lengthy topic at best. Being that 4.88 million Americans over the age 50 suffer from Dry Eye, its a chronic condition that encompasses an enormous amount of attention. Lash extensions are an extremely popular topic and the industry on a whole soars to new heights and demand increases. Lastly, red eyes due to dryness, environmental irritation or allergies can bother individuals who want that bright-eyed look.
So here is a brief discussion about the products that I recommend to my patients in reference to Dry Eyes, Lash Extensions and Red Eyes.
“We Love Eyes” Eyelid Foaming Cleanser. I know I mentioned that this is a must product for those with lash extensions but its equally beneficial to those without lash extensions. Removing eye makeup, cleansing eyelash margin and eyelids is it’s supreme mode of operation. Non-toxic, made with Tea Tree Oil and a whole bunch of natural good stuff aimed to clean, protect and kill bacteria around the eyelids and lash area.
Lumify. Red Eyes beware! Throw away your “other” get-the-red-out products; they are useless and ineffective compared to this drop. This OTC redness relief drop won’t cause ‘rebound redness’ after you stop using it. Eyes stay white and clear with one drop. This drop is great to use as needed, however, please be aware that this drop isn’t meant as a long-term treatment option for a dry eye condition.
Dry Eye Relief Mask. Ever used a wet washcloth for a warm compress? Probably not unless your Eye Doctor recommended it. It’s wet, turns from warm to cold in 10 seconds and your back-forth heating it up again. It’s a pain. Warm compresses when prescribed by your Eye Doctor can be very beneficial when it comes to treatment options for certain kinds of dry eye. But who wants to go thru the work of the wet washcloth version? Meet this practical dry eye relief mask. Reusable, can be used as a warm or cold compress and comes with mask liners that can be used as a moist heat compress. This mask will eliminate the back-forth routine of a wet washcloth. Hooray!
Stay happy & healthy!
