Holy Guacamole!
I have a confession to make…
I love avocados. On toast, tacos, eggs, even just plain…I have a love affair with avocados. But I recently came across evidence that suggests my love affair with avocados is rightfully so and here’s why:
Avocados are high in antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin which are buzz words in eye health because they are important for lowering the risk of macular degeneration.
Lutein and zeaxanthin act as natural sunblock by absorbing excess light energy which is thought to help filter harmful blue light.
Its suggested that eating an avocado a day can lead to better brain function. Participants in a recent study demonstrated better memory, attention and processing speed.
So eating a balanced diet that includes fresh avocado can be an effective strategy to better brain function and eye health. That is great news! Can I get a holy guacamole?!
